| A Vocaloid concert starring a hologram that sings and dances. |
For my project I would like to focus on a future where hologram technology has become a part of everyday life. I would like to create an image that shows how people use and control holograms as a version of themselves to keep up public appearances in order to stay at home and indoors all of the time.
Really interesting. We see a foreshadowing of this in things like Second Life. During my only visit there I was surprised how much focus there was on avatar appearances. Breast size, for example, seemed like one of the first decisions that females had to make for their avatars. We're getting so virtual anyway - my husband is skyping with his daughter in Peru and my son is on-line playing video games with strangers. It's already a world that few would have imagined - and in some ways it's taking a toll on real connections with people and with the world outside. Detergent companies used to advertise their ability to get grass stains out of children's clothing. That problem has virtually vanished.
