Going with my interest in trains, I am creating a story of people watching trains in the 1950s. The index will contain multiple links to different independent stories that will each be 3-5 pages long. At the end of each story, a link will be provided to return to the index. When the user finds the link to the next page, a rollover effect will occur and the image will change.

I like how yours isn't going to be a one link to a new page. Instead your putting multiple links, so the user can decide where they want to go from the home page.
