With your "Design and Production Team" spend some time visiting the site Havidol by artist Justine Cooper. What do you think the artist's goals are when she created this? What issues does she want people to think about?

Our group consists of Jakob, Arseniy, and Olivia. The website was very satiric and mocking of people's desires to feel good about themselves. The artist wants us to pay money for things to impress people we might not even lock. We care so much about self-esteem that we would take a medication just to improve it.

ReplyDeleteWhen the artist created this she wanted to create a parody of the medical industry and how most people don't know anything about themselves, their symptoms and the paranoia surrounding normal range of emotions.
People believe that a "miracle pill" is going to cure something that can only be improved upon through natural methods and changing one's lifestyle.
The artists goal was likely to make a comment on attention seeking people. Also a comment would be to the pharmaceutical industry, and how they try to make a pill for everything or how the pills can be more damaging than helpful.

ReplyDeleteThis website is most likely making fun of all the different types of medications we have and that the things that people get diagnosed for are often things that are either common or are so vague that you just follow them because it seems medical.
