Compare and Contrast:

http://www.inbflat.net  by artist/composer Darren Solomon

http://thru-you.com by artist/musician Kutiman

Among other possible topics, think about ideas related to collaboration vs. appropriation.

Which site has more in common with "My Boyfriend Came Back from the War" and which has more in common with "I Know Where Your Cat Lives"? Why?
The issue that I want to explore and research is how the fashion is going to develop with all the new technologies allowing limitless possibilities of modifications and how it can affect the society's well being.
Its called "fashion". Look it up.

Its called "fashion". Look it up.

Stuff I enjoy doing is mostly tech related. I enjoy programming and web development. It's usually a lot of fun, unless you have times like last week where I couldn't do much since the snow kindly decided to take my internet away (I think I should blame Time Warner more than the snow but who knows.....)
For my project I want to look at the effects of artificial intelligence in the future. Will it turn out like the movies think it will? Will the positives outweigh the negatives?

For my first project I would like to do something on technology. Specifically how technology will keep making life easier and see how that will affect the future in the long run.
One thing I like to do is hang out with friends, I also love taking pictures.
This is a picture of my friend Kathryn and I in London a couple weeks ago.

For my project I'd like to imagine what future advertisements for social media would look like if certain gratifications we receive from social media, such as self esteem and self worth, became life sustaining nutrients we need on a daily basis. I am going to research marketing for foods, beverages, and vitamins and substitute the subject of such advertisements with Facebook, Instagram, "likes" and "retweets", and such.
This is my friend Andrew and I in front of the Bonnaroo ferris wheel.
I love festivals! I love the atmosphere and the vibes there. Everybody is the most stripped down, core version of themselves. You are loved automatically for being a part of the community. People genuinely care about you for who you are and not for any superficial qualities. I cannot wait to be with my people again in summer 2016!

Blog Prompt: My Boyfriend Came Back from the War

PLEASE ANSWER BY POSTING COMMENTS.

After exploring the site "My Boyfriend Came Back from the War" made in 1996 by Olia Lialina, what do you think the piece is about? How does is challenge expectations about web design and linear narrative?

Visual Wealth Divide in Mexico City
For my first project, I would like to focus on the potential expansion of the wealth gap between the poor and the upper class. My visuals will incorporate ideas similar to what is pictured above, adding in elements regarding wishful thinking and separation. While this issue may not be as drastic in the future as I will make it out to be, I do think that it its a topic that will lend itself to the creation of several image composites.

Project one idea

My idea for project one is about nuclear warfare and the possible warfare that could erupt anyway from countries like North Korea.
I am not sure exactly what I would like to do for my project 1, but I am leaning towards something involving technology and possibly relating to globalization too. Countries aren't as isolated from each other as they used to be and it is easier to find out what is going on all over the globe. I am interested in how technology will further play a part in breaking down barriers between countries, like language for example, and what effect this will have on the world and how it functions.
Here is a picture of me seeing Kinky Boots with my
 mom in Columbus, Ohio.
One thing that I love doing is seeing plays. The most recent play that I have seen (other than Wicked for the second time) is Kinky Boots, which was wonderful. I see about 2 or three plays a year but I would like to see more.

Project 1 Ideas

For my project, I decided to look the future of privacy. Privacy to me is a huge issue nowadays, from large threats like terrorism and other countries with nuclear weapons, to personal privacy, I believe that without something being done, those people that live in the future, will lose what little privacy we have left.
We see issues everyday were people can just get on google and find your house address, your phone number, your job, your photo and almost anything else. Social media and other technology make this invasion of privacy alot easier for predators.  Working at the mall,  I see issues almost daily of people sitting in the food court and waiting to customers to make transactions in order to scan their cards from a distance. Last, we hear on the news frequently of many other countries intercepting plans, spying on each other, and many threats. With the invasions of privacy, people are losing their safety, which is a huge issue.

Photo

I chose this picture since it is showing two things i really love in my life. My family always plays cornhole whenever we get together and have parties and we have many cornhole tournaments. The other things in my life which i love is my job, i work for a local morning show and we have amazing people and celebrities come though sometimes, in this picture i am playing cornhole with comedian Carlos Mencia!

Project One Idea

For my first project i want to focus on how technology and humans will be combined into one. We already see us wearing technology on our wrists and in our glasses, but how long is it until we are having it implanted into our bodies. I will show some of the horrors of this idea and how it might look.

Project one ideas

After some thinking, the topics I would most like to explore for project one are mostly to do with the issues we face from overpopulation and the continued swelling of our population. I think some of the positive advancements that could arise from this are improved and sustainable food sources. using genetic modification and other scientific advancements could help us unlock a way to sustain the population.

Other more lighthearted ideas i had are the commercialization of the self driving car or maybe even some new forms of transport. I was also interested in the rising popularity of houses that are connected throughout by a network that you can use to control every function of your house and appliances.

mid Jack White guitar solo selfie.
One of my all time favorite things to do is see live music. The artist and venue size rarely matters to me, I simply love watching people perform music and being a part of the experience in the crowd. The above image was from the Forecastle Festival in Louisville two summers ago. As a 5 year forecastle veteran I can confidently say it's the best live music event Louisville offers.

A Vocaloid concert starring a hologram that sings and dances.
For my project I would like to focus on a future where hologram technology has become a part of everyday life. I would like to create an image that shows how people use and control holograms as a version of themselves to keep up public appearances in order to stay at home and indoors all of the time.
For my project 1, I would like to create an image conveying the concerns that many people have about Donald Trump becoming president. Specifically, I would create an image showing what his hate has turned the US into, with military-style security and fear-promoting propaganda.

Project One Idea

For my Project One idea, I would like to create an art piece based off Global Warming, specifically focusing on our oceans. In a billion years, it is possible that our oceans will dry up from it being too hot. If the oceans evaporate, all living things would die. The temperature outside would burn every living thing. If we didn’t die immediately from it being too hot, it would be because we wouldn’t have enough water to keep people from dehydration. Keep this in mind as well, if the world didn’t have oceans, that would mean we wouldn’t have rain, and we wouldn’t have plants and animals. Our food sources would diminish and plants that provide us oxygen would no longer be there. It is just as possible to die from suffocation, as it would be dehydration or starvation. So what would our world look like then? I hope to look into this topic more to see what could happen to the world we live in.

I'm on the very left of this picture, but you can't really see me that well.

Something that I love to do is play club volleyball at Bellarmine. I wear the #2 jersey and my position is Setter. Bellarmine Club Volleyball is a competitive team that travels to different tournaments throughout the entire academic year. At the end of spring semester we even go to Club Nationals. Last year we placed 5th among all Division II teams. I have had the privilege to become a part of the Executive Board for Club Volleyball this year and I couldn't be more happy to be a part of this team. Trying out for the team last year probably the best decision I've ever made at college.

Love for Live Music

First of all I want to say sorry this isn't a picture of me! I didn't realize I never take pictures with me in them. Regardless, I love concerts and music festivals! This is a picture I took at Bonnaroo last year of My Morning Jacket front row (waited 7 hours...)! I have gone to Bonnaroo the last two years and this will be my 3rd year going in a row (already have tickets!). If I had to choose the best artists I've seen live so far they would have to be My Morning Jacket (twice), Frank Ocean, Kanye West (twice), and Kendrick Lamar (three times) or the Districts (twice).

One of the things I enjoy doing most is spending time with my younger cousins. This is a picture of my little cousin Graham and I on the fourth of July. He loved the fireworks and would laugh every time one would go off.

One thing that I enjoy is hiking. This picture was taken in Red River Gorge, Kentucky, over this past Summer. A group of friends and I had just scaled a formation known as the Indian Staircase after two hours of searching for it.
While finding the path to get out, we came across the rock in this picture, known as the Turtle's Head. It's hard of gauge from this picture, but the ground below me here was incredibly steep and smooth, with a hundred and fifty foot drop just past it, with the rock jutting out from the gorge's face.

Project One Idea - Christopher Spach

For this project, I want to focus on the concept of in vitro meat (AKA cultured meat). Scientists are working on creating meat in laboratories without the use of animals. The first in vitro beef burger was created by a Dutch team in 2013.

While it is currently very expensive, cultured meat is expected to one day compete with traditionally obtained meat. Many consider this preferable to the current system, considering the awful condition of the factory farms that produce almost all of our meat.

However, I imagine that if this product is introduced, there will be a backlash from both meat-eaters and vegetarians. This type of meat may be criticized as unnatural, harmful to American farmers or just missing the point.

Although most vegetarian groups have praised in vitro meat as a key to ending factory farming, others have claimed that the in vitro beef burger produced in 2013 was not truly vegetarian, as fetal calf serum was used in the growth medium.

In order to explore this topic's many angles, I plan to focus not on a conditional future, but a conditional past. Our present is also the future of the past. With my project, I want to pose the question, "What would the world be like now if in vitro meat had existed in the past?"

In order to do this, I plan to create several posters and advertisements in the style of those from the 1960s. In that time period, ads said exactly what they wanted to say, no matter how sexist or propaganda-laden.

Using this medium, I hope I will be able to create an interesting exploration of a subject that we will most likely be hearing more about in the future.

One thing that I really enjoy doing, is cosplay. I love becoming someone else, making costumes, doing makeup, and running around pretending to be that person or character.
I've done everything from video game characters and TV show characters to horror movie cast and disney princesses. This picture above is me as Ariel from Disney's The Little Mermaid, and next to that is makeup that is supposed to look like my face is partially burnt off.

Here is a photo of me and a friend exploring the island of Iona in Scotland. I love to travel and spend time in nature, and I was lucky to be able to live and work on this beautiful—and mostly untouched by human civilization— island a few years ago. There was a short tunnel below those large rocks that led to a small pebbly beach surrounded by cliffs where my friends and I ate our picnic lunch.

Visiting the Cass Scenic Railroad in 2014 at Cass, WV.

The topic I chose for project one is medicine. I want to know if it will continue to improve and if so, how will it affect the future. I also want to know if there are possibilities of cures for any big diseases out there (heart, aids, diabities, etc)

One thing I love doing is playing basketball. I have played this sport all my life and it has blessed me with a lot of opportunities!

My Interview with Arseniy

- Arseniy is a Business and D.A.T. major, same as me!

- Arseniy is originally from a city called Perm, in Eastern Russia. He's lived in the Louisville area for about 5 years

- He enjoys visual art (same as me!). Painting and linoleum prints are among his favorite media

- Arseniy and I both dislike popular radio country. He enjoys electronic music and also punk and some classic rock

- He enjoys Sushi - so do I.

- Arseniy has a small family quite like mine. His mother still lives in Russia

- Arseniy is annoyed by most human behavior after working at Starbucks for years. As a former subway employee I understood all too well

- He has no tattoos

- His favorite hobbies are mostly making Art. He also enjoys building models of many kinds

- Arseniy has travelled to a long list of European countries and cities. He has also spent a few days in Canada and Mexico.

- Arseniy's scariest experience was fending off a grown man with a baseball bat.

- Arseniy is proud of working hard and getting his desired ACT score
Calvin is a junior, majoring in Business Administration and DAT. He was born and lived all his life in Louisville, Kentucky. He has a younger brother. Calvin went to Manual High School where he heavily engaged in the art program, which might have motivated to take Web Design with Laura Hartford.
Calvin loves art, specifically painting, printing and wood burning. While he enjoys various genres of music like punk rock, alternative and hard rock, he finds country music the least appealing.
Calvin worked at food places such as Panera Bread and Subway and can spend a good deal of time ranting about the customer's intellectual imperfections.
His most dreaded moment was when he was chased by a hobo in the abandoned warehouse on the crevasses of Louisville.
Calvin is very happy that he has made it that far in college.
Callie is a DAT and Communication major, like me. She is a sophomore and she works at Foot Locker. She is from Kentucky, but her dad is from Canada. She loves cats, in fact, she is well-known for loving them. The Courier Journal ran a story about her a few years ago because she loves cat so much. She has a cat named Merlin, like the wizard.
She used to be a dancer, but an injury made her quit. She is still quite flexible though. Her favorite movies are Disney movies, particularly The Lion King. Disney World is her favorite place. Her hobbies include playing the piano (which she has done for 16 years), watching Netflix, shopping and playing video games. When she grows up she hopes to be involved in video game production. She likes many different genres of music, including rap, screamo, country and pop. She likes most food except cooked broccoli (raw broccoli is fine), but particularly likes fast food.
Callie has had several bad experiences at her jobs. When she worked at Panera, a customer threw $80 at her in ones and yelled at her. At Foot Locker, a random 45-year-old man came in and asked her to marry him so that he could start a family– which she may have considered a little more if he had been able to afford the $85 shoes he was trying to buy.
Something that I found we had in common is that we both fell asleep while driving once. A few years ago, she had taken some medication and then started driving. She fell asleep and woke up in the emergency lane. She thankfully didn't wreck. When I was in high school, I fell asleep behind the wheel and woke up with a utility pole three feet into the front of my car. My car (and the pole) were ruined, but I survived without a scratch.
All about Jordan Wheatley

Jordan is a DAT/COMM double major that was born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky. Jordan's favorite food is Burgers. His favorite style of music is Country. Jordan's favorite movie right now is the new Star Wars. He grew up as a only child until about four years ago when he then became a sibling of two sisters and one brother. His pet peeve includes clacking noises like change in someone's pocket or someone tapping on a desk. He does not have any tattoos. Jordan enjoys video games and basketball as his hobbies. His scariest moment was when he was on a boat in Panama City Beach with his family. What made it scary was when the boat kept going vertical because the waves were so intense. He had to hold onto his younger siblings incase the boat capsized. He is most proud of his job that he landed at WHAS 11 this year. His dream jobs include producing/editing TV shows or movies OR to host a TV/radio show. His favorite place is New York City, which he visited last year. He dreams of traveling to different countries in Europe. If Jordan had to pick between Pro-Zombie and Anti-Zombie, he would definitely choose Pro-Zombie. Dogs or Cats you may ask? He's more of a dog person, but his family has acquired some cats as well. His spirit animal would be a Wolf. The worst thing to happen to him at work would be when he worked at the Mega Caverns underneath Louisville. He was on the zip lines and almost fell 90 feet because he wasn't attached to the zip line. What Jordan and I have in common is that we both played a sport in high school.

My spirit animal is a Nightjar. They are funny-looking and have big mouths.
Just look at it.

I decided my spirit animal would be an Eagle. A lot of reasons why the Eagle is my spirit animal, one would be that is flies and I think flying would be cool. You can fly anywhere you want to, and they can fly up to 55 mph. Another reason, is that it doesn't really have any enemies. It's at the top of the bird food chain. I also think the Eagle just looks beautiful.
My spirit animal is the bear. The bear is usually nice, unless provoked.

My spirit animal is a crocodile. I chose a crocodile because they are a near perfect predator and are essentially dinosaurs.

Look at that cool guy, using the windshield as a slide.
My "spirit animal" is the crow playing in the snow on the windshield of this car. Crows are cool playful birds I love them.
This is a cute kitten.
My spirit animal is a kitten because kittens love to sleep and get into trouble.
My spirit animal is a baby pig.
They are cute, smart, and they are always really happy.
Contrary to popular belief, they love to be clean!
But rolling in mud is nice too.
My spirit animal is a lion with it's hair blowing in the wind. I chose this spirit animal because lions are very fascinating and really funny sometimes. They also have a lot of hair on their head, just like me.

Lion with mane blowing in the wind.
